PTCC take 7 wickets for 1 run to claim amazing National cup win

Posted by Richard Kendall on 26 June 2018

PTCC's National Knockout Round 4 match was drifting towards defeat, with only 3 runs to win from the last 2 overs, and 7 wickets in hand, it looked almost certainly High Wycombe's game.

Then skipper David Clarke handed the ball to 2nd team regular Kieran Jones with defeat looming. Jonesy had other ideas...

WWWW.. six balls later, and a four-wicket maiden, the match was alive...

Suddenly, it was 3 to win, but only 3 wickets in hand, surely we couldn't turn this around?

The skipper then handed the ball to part-time off-spinner Danny Malik - who had earlier scored a vital 53 in Town's 187 all out - but surely they couldn't defend 3 runs?

NATIONAL CLUB KO: Seeing is believing as Peterborough Town claim a miraculous win
Peterborough Telegraph match report

If you weren’t at Bretton Gate today (June 24), you’d never have believed what happened in one of the most sensational finishes in Peterborough Town’s history.
Chasing Town’s 188 to reach the last 16 of the National Club Championship knockout, High Wycombe, losing quarter-finalists last season, were 186-3 at the start of the 39th and penultimate over and cruising to victory in what had been a rather tedious contest...
