PETERBOROUGH TOWN CRICKET CLUB – Dog Policy
The Club prides itself on being dog-friendly, and we are always happy to welcome our 4-legged friends both around the grounds and in the Clubhouse.
However, we must also respect the fact that not every member is a dog lover and some people, especially smaller children, can be nervous around them, so we must manage accordingly.
There are a few rules which all dog owners must respect, either to prevent damage to our playing facilities, to comply with Health & Safety regs or to keep our members safe.
Dogs are NOT permitted at any time in any of these areas:
- a) The kitchen
- b) Behind the bar or in the cellar
- c) Inside the indoor tennis dome
- d) On the outdoor tennis courts
- e) On the bowls rinks
- f) Inside the Astroturf hockey pitch area or in the dugouts
- g) Inside any of the changing rooms or disabled toilets, (other than Guide Dogs)
- h) On the squash courts
- i) In the cricket practice nets
- j) On the cricket square
Dogs are most welcome to be exercised off lead around the main grass pitch area and on the cricket outfield but MUST be kept away from the cricket square at all times of the year - there is plenty of room for them to run outside this area.
We would ask owners please to ensure they pick up any dog poo and put their poo bags in one of the non-recycling bins around the site.
Dogs are permitted in the spectator areas of the Hockey cage, the Bowls Pavilion and the glass-back Squash court seating area, preferably on a lead, but must be under control of their owners at all times even if not on a lead.
Dogs are welcome in the Lounge/Bar area but MUST be on a lead at all times both during the day and in the evening 7 days a week. They are also not permitted to sit on the furniture (even on a lap) and we would ask you to ensure your dog is not very wet, muddy or smelly before coming into the Lounge so it remains a welcoming area for everyone and does not create more work for our cleaners.
There may be a few occasions where we may have to ask for no dogs in the lounge, such as when there is a large sit-down meal when we must ensure that staff can move around carrying food in a crowded area without fear of tripping over a dog. Members will be advised in advance of such occasions.
In summary, your dog is very welcome, but please ensure you have him/her under control at all times and respect both your club facilities and other members.
